Waste Management Software: Collect My Waste

A customer portal and mobile app that books waste collections, prices them instantly, and shows a business exactly how much of its waste stayed out of landfill.

Waste management software for collections and recycling

From glass recycling to food waste, Collect My Waste is waste management software — a customer website and a mobile app — that makes getting rid of commercial waste easier. Customers create an account, book collections on dates that suit them, hire skips, pay by card or Direct Debit, and see exactly where every tonne ended up.

The whole platform is built around two ideas the industry usually gets wrong: a quote should price itself in seconds rather than after a site visit, and a customer should be able to answer "how much of our waste went to landfill?" without emailing anyone. Scorchsoft designed and built both the portal and the mobile app.

Inside the waste management platform

A boxed dashboard, colour-coded waste analytics, instant quotes, card and Direct Debit payments, and a mobile app alongside the website.

The Collect My Waste design language: an evergreen and ink colour palette, a four-colour waste-stream palette for recycled, recovered, reused and landfill, the type scale and the core interface components

Clean, simple design

The customer wanted an easy way to get rid of their waste, so the portal and the app had to be obvious to use while still looking professional. The interface splits every screen into small boxed sections so each job stays clear, and the dashboard puts upcoming collections, payment plans and scheduling in a single view — which means far less navigating to do the one thing you came to do.

Underneath it sits a small design language: an evergreen and ink palette, one dominant figure per screen, shadows instead of borders, and four colours reserved strictly for the four waste streams.

Waste analytics that show where the money goes

Every collection is weighed and split across four streams — landfill, recovered, recycled and reused — and colour-coded the same way everywhere in the product. Customers see their diversion rate, their tonnage month by month and their cost per tonne without asking anyone for a report.

For a business that matters twice over: it tracks the waste budget and shows where a container is in the wrong place, and it evidences environmental impact for the people who now ask for it.

Instant quotes, no callback

Quoting was the slowest part of the business, so we automated it. The customer picks the waste types they produce, the container size, how many and how often; the platform prices it live from their address and the round that serves it.

No site visit, no phone tag, no waiting for someone to come back to them — and a quote that is saved, emailed and ready to turn into a booking.

Card and Direct Debit payments, invoiced automatically

Customers can pay by card for one-off collections or set up a Direct Debit for a regular schedule. Invoices are generated from the collection records rather than typed up, and every transfer note is attached to the invoice it belongs to.

That removed a large amount of admin on both sides: the customer stops chasing paperwork before an audit, and the business stops chasing payment.

A mobile app that opened a new revenue stream

The website reached the customers who were already looking. The app reached the ones who book from a yard, a van or a site office — and it kept them, because rebooking a collection takes seconds once the account exists.

For the client that was a genuinely new channel rather than a second front door onto the old one, which is usually where the return on a mobile app is found.

  • I'm really pleased with how my app came out, it was exactly what I was looking for. The team at Scorchsoft are great at what they do and made the whole process as simple and easy as possible. Being someone who is not very tech savvy the set up and back end operations were done in a great easy to use manner even for myself which makes using my app stress free. Thanks to all the team!

  • The new Flourish Education website has already removed a lot of manual processes, freeing up both schools, candidates and internal employees time. We are delighted with the look and feel which is clean, professional and more engaging. We are also pleased with the decision to have an HD video background on the homepage, and building immediate trust with our clients by giving them a taste of what it looks like in the Flourish Education offices.

  • I can't believe how quickly we started to see results with this project. Scorchsoft provided us with graphic-designed mockups of how the app would look once built, and we were able to sell the product for use by our first customer before the product was finished. Since launching in March, we have secured a major television network as a client who now uses Image Approvals to manage the talent approval process for their productions.
