Application continuity plans
An application continuity plan is clear coverage for the health, progress and runtime of a business-critical application across support, ongoing product development and its hosting environment.

Keep the application dependable, useful and ready for what comes next
An application continuity plan is a clear set of services for keeping a business-critical application operating and progressing after launch. Scorchsoft separates that coverage into three components:
- Support & Maintenance for issues, defects and the health of the application already in use.
- Momentum ongoing product development for the planned roadmap, new features and improvements.
- Application Hosting & Lifeline Support for the hosting and runtime environment your application runs on.
Choose one component, combine two, or use all three according to the responsibilities and gaps in your current setup.
Three components, three practical jobs
Choose coverage against the operational problem you need to solve. When responsibilities cross between services, the handover is documented.

Support & Maintenance: protect the live application
Choose this when the application is in use and the main need is help with operational issues, defects and maintenance. The scope can also include agreed application health activity, keeping work on the current service separate from planned product change.
- Operational issue handling
- Defect resolution and maintenance
- Agreed application health activity

Momentum: move the product roadmap forward
Choose ongoing product development when the priority is planned progress: new features, integrations, workflow improvements or technical renewal. A prioritised roadmap and regular delivery capacity keep that work moving without forcing it through an incident-support queue.
- Roadmap ownership
- Planned features and improvements
- Planning, testing and release management

Application Hosting & Lifeline: care for the runtime environment
Choose this when the hosting environment needs clearer operational ownership. Managed hosting covers the agreed cloud foundation. Lifeline can add server monitoring, security patches and updates, alerting, basic server troubleshooting and a weekday 9–5 infrastructure response SLA, including in a customer-hosted environment where access and responsibilities are documented.
Application bugs, code changes, feature work and application-level monitoring require the relevant support or monitoring service.
Match coverage to the operational gap
Start with the outcome the application needs, then assign the right service and owner.
- A stable application with recurring defects and maintenance needs may need Support & Maintenance.
- A product with a valuable backlog may need Momentum to prioritise and deliver admin workflows, customer self-service, reporting or integrations.
- An application whose runtime needs clearer ownership may need Application Hosting & Lifeline Support, including where the hosting remains in the customer's environment.
- When an issue crosses a boundary, the continuity plan defines the handover so incidents, product changes and infrastructure work reach the right team.
Clear boundaries make continuity practical
A useful continuity plan names who owns each kind of work, how it enters the workflow and when it moves between teams.
Support & Maintenance
This covers the existing application: operational issues, defects and agreed maintenance activity. A material new capability belongs on the product roadmap.
Momentum
This covers planned change: new features, workflow improvements, integrations and technical renewal. An urgent incident affecting the live service follows the support route rather than competing with roadmap priorities.
Application Hosting & Lifeline Support
Lifeline supports the hosting environment your application runs on. It covers server monitoring, security patches and updates, basic server troubleshooting, alerting and an infrastructure response SLA during 9–5 weekdays. It can also support a customer-hosted environment where access and responsibilities are documented.
Application bugs, code changes, feature work and application-level monitoring require the relevant support or monitoring service.
If the codebase or responsibility map is uncertain, a code audit and app rescue assessment can establish the current technical position before coverage is agreed.
Build the right coverage in four steps
Map the current setup
Identify the application, infrastructure, suppliers, internal owners, release process and existing operational commitments.
Find the continuity gaps
Separate risks in the live service, the product roadmap and the hosting environment so each need has a clear home.
Choose the components
Select the services that address the live application, its roadmap and its hosting environment, based on the gaps found in the current setup.
Agree boundaries and handovers
Document scope, ownership, escalation paths and how work passes between the selected services and any existing teams.
Plan the continuity coverage your application actually needs
We will help you map current responsibilities, identify continuity gaps and shape clear coverage around the live application, its roadmap and its runtime environment.
Application continuity plan FAQs
No. Support & Maintenance, Momentum ongoing product development, and Application Hosting + Lifeline are independent components. You can choose one, two or all three according to the gaps in your current setup.
Yes. Momentum covers the planned product roadmap and feature-delivery capacity. It does not require you to move hosting or buy support and maintenance where your existing arrangements remain suitable.
Potentially, yes. Application Hosting & Lifeline Support focuses on the hosting and runtime environment for your application and can also cover a customer-hosted setup where access and responsibilities are agreed. Application bugs, code changes, feature work and application-level monitoring need the relevant support or monitoring service.
Support and maintenance protect the current service by addressing operational issues, defects and maintenance needs. Momentum advances the product through planned features, improvements and technical work on a prioritised roadmap.
That does not automatically prevent Scorchsoft from helping. We first need enough technical access and evidence to understand the codebase, infrastructure and current responsibilities. Where the position is unclear, a code audit and app rescue assessment can provide a practical starting point.
Each component keeps a distinct scope and owner. The plan then defines the handovers: for example, an operational issue can enter support, a material product change can move to the Momentum roadmap, and an infrastructure concern can follow the hosting and continuity route. The components coordinate without becoming a compulsory bundle.

What Our Clients Say
Scorchsoft helped us take our idea for an app and make it a reality. Everything from the planning meeting to decide what we really needed to the project management and execution was great. It was delivered on time - early in fact - and on budget. Highly recommend.
Rebecca PalserDragonfly IntelligenceScorchsoft is a brilliant company with fantastic knowledge of the mobile app industry. From the project management to the development team, they have been the perfect candidate for our project, and we can't thank them enough!
Lance ChorltonGapped OnlineWe're really pleased with the work Scorchsoft has done in developing our web portal! They have been accurate with timelines and budget, delivering a solid product that allows us to monitor and manage patients remotely while they use our novel medical device at-home. The "plan - design - build" approach has worked well and saved us time in the long-run by catching requirements and issues early.
Daniel GreenSensTrainI'm really pleased with how my app came out, it was exactly what I was looking for. The team at Scorchsoft are great at what they do and made the whole process as simple and easy as possible. Being someone who is not very tech savvy the set up and back end operations were done in a great easy to use manner even for myself which makes using my app stress free. Thanks to all the team!
Ruben CarrollMosaic MasterpiecesThe new Flourish Education website has already removed a lot of manual processes, freeing up both schools, candidates and internal employees time. We are delighted with the look and feel which is clean, professional and more engaging. We are also pleased with the decision to have an HD video background on the homepage, and building immediate trust with our clients by giving them a taste of what it looks like in the Flourish Education offices.
James HancocksMarketing Manager, Flourish Education I can't believe how quickly we started to see results with this project. Scorchsoft provided us with graphic-designed mockups of how the app would look once built, and we were able to sell the product for use by our first customer before the product was finished. Since launching in March, we have secured a major television network as a client who now uses Image Approvals to manage the talent approval process for their productions.
