Off-the-shelf connector or custom integration?
An existing connector can be the right starting point when it supports the required systems, fields and actions, with suitable permissions and error handling. Before commissioning development, check what the connector actually transfers, how frequently it runs and what happens when a record fails.
Custom integration becomes useful when you need rules across several systems, unsupported fields, approvals, audit trails or a particular user experience. For example, transferring a contact is relatively simple; creating a customer account only after approval, assigning the correct commercial terms and preventing duplicate records requires a more deliberate workflow.
We assess the available interfaces and the business rules together. That helps separate configuration work from software that genuinely needs to be built.
An illustrative CRM-to-finance workflow
Consider a hypothetical business where an approved CRM opportunity needs to become a customer and order in a finance system. The integration first validates the required information and maps the CRM identifiers to the finance records. It records whether the action has already completed, so a repeated event does not create another order.
If the finance system is unavailable, the workflow can hold the request for a controlled retry. Invalid information goes to an exception queue with a clear explanation, rather than disappearing into a failed background job. A reconciled status then returns to the CRM.
The important design decisions include which system owns each record, who can correct an exception and which actions require approval. Duplicate protection must be designed around the receiving system's capabilities and tested recovery behaviour. This is an illustrative workflow, not a claim about a delivered client project.
What an integration project should leave you with
Agree the deliverables as well as the connection: documented field mappings, authentication and access arrangements, deployed integration code, test evidence, monitoring, an exception-handling route and an operating runbook. Where appropriate, include API documentation and a handover for your internal technical team.

Usually, yes, provided the system exposes a suitable API, data interface or another permitted integration route. We review the actual technical constraints before recommending an approach.
Yes. We can design and build APIs where an existing application needs a secure, documented interface for other systems, apps or partners.
That depends on the workflow. We design appropriate logging, retries, queues, alerts, fallbacks or human intervention rather than assuming every external service will always respond successfully.
Sometimes. A permitted file exchange, database interface or another vendor-supported route may work. Screen automation can be more fragile and requires its own assessment. We investigate access, licensing and support constraints before proposing an approach.
It can, if included in scope. Historical migration and ongoing synchronisation have different requirements. Agree the cut-off point, validation, duplicate handling and reconciliation so the initial import and live process work together.
Agree ownership during delivery. API version changes, permissions, expiring credentials and changing business rules can require maintenance. Documentation and monitoring help identify those changes; a defined support arrangement determines who responds.
