Managed cloud and runtime care

Application Hosting & Lifeline Support

Application Hosting & Lifeline Support is a managed cloud and runtime support service for the hosting environment your application runs on. Lifeline can also cover customer-hosted environments when access and responsibilities are documented.

Two services, one clear responsibility map

Managed hosting covers the cloud infrastructure and operational foundations that run your application. Lifeline support is a focused hosting and runtime support layer covering server monitoring, security patches and updates, basic server troubleshooting, alerting, and an infrastructure response SLA during 9–5 weekdays.

Lifeline supports the hosting environment your application runs on. Application bugs, code changes, feature work and application-level monitoring require the relevant support or monitoring service. For that broader application care, see Support & Maintenance.

You can use Lifeline with Scorchsoft-managed hosting or for a customer-hosted environment where access, responsibilities and the escalation path are agreed.

Managed hosting and Lifeline support do different jobs

Separating ongoing infrastructure management from focused runtime support makes ownership clear when an alert or server issue occurs.

What managed hosting can cover

We tailor the operational setup to the application, its traffic, data and resilience requirements.

Cloud infrastructure

A managed environment on an appropriate cloud platform, configured around the application's technical and operational needs.

Data protection arrangements

Backup, retention and recovery arrangements designed around the agreed service requirements and the platform in use.

Operational monitoring

Server and infrastructure signals monitored within the agreed boundary, with alerts directed to the responsible team.

Release operations

A controlled route for deploying agreed application changes to the hosted environment.

How hosting and Lifeline work in practice

The service boundary is agreed around the environment, the people involved and the response route you need.

Managed hosting creates an operating foundation

A hosted application depends on more than rented cloud capacity. We agree the environments, deployment route, backup and recovery arrangements, monitoring signals and platform responsibilities that sit within the service. That makes routine operations and releases easier to coordinate.

Where it fits: Choose managed hosting when you want Scorchsoft to take defined responsibility for the infrastructure that runs the application.

Lifeline keeps the infrastructure response route clear

Lifeline provides a focused support layer for the hosting environment: server monitoring, security patches and updates, alerting, basic server troubleshooting and an infrastructure response SLA during 9–5 weekdays. It can support Scorchsoft-hosted or customer-hosted environments where access, responsibilities and escalation are agreed.

Application bugs, code changes, feature work and application-level monitoring sit within the relevant application support or monitoring service.

Lifeline support for customer-hosted environments

Your application does not have to move into Scorchsoft-managed hosting to receive Lifeline support. We can support the hosting environment in your own cloud account and work alongside your internal IT team, managed service provider or cloud partner, as long as the operational boundary is clear.

Before support starts, we agree the environments Scorchsoft may access, how alerts and infrastructure incidents are handed over, who can approve hosting changes, and the escalation path. Lifeline then provides the agreed server monitoring, patching, alerting and basic server troubleshooting within its weekday 9–5 infrastructure response SLA.

Application bugs, code changes, feature work and application-level monitoring sit outside Lifeline and need the relevant support or monitoring service. See Support & Maintenance for application health reviews, monitoring, maintenance and reactive engineering capacity.

We regularly work with cloud technologies including Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. Platform fit and responsibility are confirmed for each environment.

For a wider plan covering incident roles, suppliers, access and recovery, see Application Continuity Plans. If the main need is a planned roadmap of product improvements, see Ongoing Product Development.

How we set up the right service

1

Map the system and owners

We identify the application components, environments, suppliers and teams involved in keeping the service running. If Scorchsoft did not build the application, we also review the available codebase, deployment and infrastructure evidence; a formal code audit or rescue assessment may be needed where supportability is unclear.

2

Choose the hosting boundary

We agree whether Scorchsoft manages the infrastructure or works alongside your existing hosting or IT provider.

3

Define Lifeline coverage

We document the hosting environments in scope, weekday 9–5 response SLA, access, monitoring, patching, alerting and escalation responsibilities.

4

Establish operations

We set up the agreed access, documentation, monitoring and handover routes, then review the service at the agreed cadence.

  • I'm really pleased with how my app came out, it was exactly what I was looking for. The team at Scorchsoft are great at what they do and made the whole process as simple and easy as possible. • The new Flourish Education website has already removed a lot of manual processes, freeing up both schools, candidates and internal employees time. We are delighted with the look and feel which is clean, professional and more engaging. We are also pleased with the decision to have an HD video background on the homepage, and building immediate trust with our clients by giving them a taste of what it looks like in the Flourish Education offices.

  • I can't believe how quickly we started to see results with this project. Scorchsoft provided us with graphic-designed mockups of how the app would look once built, and we were able to sell the product for use by our first customer before the product was finished. Since launching in March, we have secured a major television network as a client who now uses Image Approvals to manage the talent approval process for their productions.
