Support & Maintenance
Application support and maintenance is a practical service for keeping live software healthy through scheduled MOT-style reviews, monitoring, planned maintenance and reserved reactive engineering capacity. Scope, service hours, response targets and escalation routes are agreed with you in advance.

Practical care for software your organisation relies on
Support and maintenance keeps a live application usable, secure and maintainable after launch. We combine planned health reviews with configured monitoring, a route for reporting faults and a reserved amount of engineering capacity for investigation and corrective work.
This service is shaped around the application, its risk and your operating needs. We document what is covered, who can raise an issue, the service hours, severity definitions, response targets and escalation path in the agreed service schedule. If the software first needs stabilising, our App Project Rescue service or fixed-fee code audit can establish a sensible starting point.
If you also want Scorchsoft to manage the cloud environment, compare our Application Hosting & Lifeline Support service. For a wider plan covering incident roles, suppliers, access and recovery, see Application Continuity Plans. When the priority moves from reactive care to a planned roadmap of improvements, see Ongoing Product Development.
What support and maintenance can cover
The exact mix is agreed for your application. These are the building blocks we use most often.
Application health checks
Periodic MOT-style reviews of application health, maintainability, dependencies and operational risks, with practical recommendations.
Monitoring and alerting
Monitoring configured for the signals that matter to the agreed service, with alerts routed through the documented support process.
Reactive engineering capacity
A reserved allowance for triage, investigation and corrective work when an in-scope issue is reported.
Planned maintenance
A prioritised maintenance backlog for dependency updates, technical debt and small reliability improvements.
A defined route from signal to action
Monitoring is useful when it leads to an agreed response. The support process joins monitoring signals, reported faults and health-review findings to severity triage, investigation, communication and corrective action. The service schedule documents who owns the next step and when escalation applies.
- 1A signal or fault enters the agreed support route
- 2The issue is triaged against the severity definitions
- 3Investigation and communication follow the agreed targets
- 4Corrective work and follow-up are recorded

A service built around an agreed SLA
The service schedule turns support into a defined working arrangement. We agree the detail before the service starts.
Core service shape
- Scheduled application health reviews
- Monitoring for agreed signals
- A route for reporting in-scope faults
- Reserved reactive engineering capacity
- A visible maintenance backlog
Agreed for your organisation
- Applications and environments in scope
- Service hours and contact channels
- Severity definitions and response targets
- Reactive capacity and approval thresholds
- Escalation path and responsibilities
Health reviews turn technical risk into a maintenance plan
The scheduled review looks across code, dependencies, environments, monitoring, access and operational knowledge. Findings are prioritised so urgent weaknesses, routine maintenance and longer-term improvements are visible. If an inherited codebase is too fragile or poorly understood for routine support, we may recommend a fixed-fee code audit or App Project Rescue engagement before the SLA begins.
- A clear baseline for application health
- Prioritised findings with practical next steps
- A visible maintenance backlog
- A safer boundary for ongoing support

How we put support in place
Understand the application
We review the codebase, environments, current risks, ownership and the people who depend on the system.
Agree the support boundary
Together we define scope, service hours, severity levels, response targets, escalation routes and reserved capacity.
Create the baseline
We document access, establish a health baseline and configure the monitoring and reporting that the service needs.
Run and review
We triage work through the agreed process, complete planned maintenance and review priorities with you at the agreed cadence.
Need a dependable route for application issues?
Tell us what the application does, where it runs and what good support needs to look like. We’ll help you define a realistic service.
Support & Maintenance FAQs
The practical questions teams ask before putting an application under support.
Coverage is defined in the service schedule agreed with you. It sets the service hours, contact channels, severity levels, response targets and escalation route for your application.
It is a scheduled technical review of the live application and its operating context. We look for maintainability, dependency, monitoring and reliability risks, then provide a prioritised set of actions.
It can include a reserved allowance of reactive engineering capacity. The amount, how it is used and what happens when more work is needed are agreed before the service begins.
Often, yes. We first need enough technical access and documentation to understand the system safely. A code audit may be the right first step for an unfamiliar or fragile codebase.
We agree severity definitions and response targets for the service. Reported issues are triaged against those definitions so everyone knows the next step and the expected communication route.
What Our Clients Say
Scorchsoft helped us take our idea for an app and make it a reality. Everything from the planning meeting to decide what we really needed to the project management and execution was great. It was delivered on time - early in fact - and on budget. Highly recommend.
Rebecca PalserDragonfly IntelligenceScorchsoft is a brilliant company with fantastic knowledge of the mobile app industry. From the project management to the development team, they have been the perfect candidate for our project, and we can't thank them enough!
Lance ChorltonGapped OnlineWe're really pleased with the work Scorchsoft has done in developing our web portal! They have been accurate with timelines and budget, delivering a solid product that allows us to monitor and manage patients remotely while they use our novel medical device at-home. The "plan - design - build" approach has worked well and saved us time in the long-run by catching requirements and issues early.
Daniel GreenSensTrainI'm really pleased with how my app came out, it was exactly what I was looking for. The team at Scorchsoft are great at what they do and made the whole process as simple and easy as possible. Being someone who is not very tech savvy the set up and back end operations were done in a great easy to use manner even for myself which makes using my app stress free. Thanks to all the team!
Ruben CarrollMosaic MasterpiecesThe new Flourish Education website has already removed a lot of manual processes, freeing up both schools, candidates and internal employees time. We are delighted with the look and feel which is clean, professional and more engaging. We are also pleased with the decision to have an HD video background on the homepage, and building immediate trust with our clients by giving them a taste of what it looks like in the Flourish Education offices.
James HancocksMarketing Manager, Flourish Education I can't believe how quickly we started to see results with this project. Scorchsoft provided us with graphic-designed mockups of how the app would look once built, and we were able to sell the product for use by our first customer before the product was finished. Since launching in March, we have secured a major television network as a client who now uses Image Approvals to manage the talent approval process for their productions.
