Technology & SaaS App Development
We build the product itself — multi-tenant SaaS platforms, subscription billing, API layers and the AI features that now decide whether a product feels current. For software companies, scale-ups and funded startups who need a senior team that ships.

Building software for people who build software
Selling to a technology buyer is a different conversation. They will read the architecture, ask what happens at ten times the load, and want to know who owns the repository when the engagement ends. Fair questions, and we answer them the same way every time: you own the code, the infrastructure is yours, and nothing we build needs us to keep running.
The problems we are brought in on repeat:
- A product that works for one customer and not for fifty. The first enterprise deal exposes every place tenancy was assumed rather than designed — shared tables, hard-coded config, a permission model that cannot express "their admin, not ours".
- Billing that has drifted from reality. Plans, seats, usage, trials, discounts and the dunning flow nobody finished. Revenue leaks quietly here.
- An AI feature the market now expects. Investors and customers both ask. The engineering question is not whether to add one, it is which part of the product genuinely gets better with a model behind it.
- A team at capacity. The roadmap is right, the engineers exist, and everything is still six months behind because they are maintaining what shipped last year.
We work as either the whole build team or a senior extension of yours, and we are comfortable being told the constraints matter more than the preferences.
What we build for software companies
The pieces most SaaS and technology projects are assembled from. Each one links to how we approach it.
Software products we have built
Four platforms: two AI products of our own, a compliance SaaS with staff permissions and subscription billing, and a CMS an agency resells as a monthly product.

StartupTools
Our own AI platform for founders and product teams: brainstorming, branding, wireframes, scopes of work, investor matching and a real-time AI voice coach.

SocialTools
An agentic AI content engine that researches a brand's own sources, writes the posts and long-form articles, generates the images and schedules across LinkedIn, X and Threads.

Astrid GDPR portal
A GDPR compliance SaaS for small businesses: staff permissions and invites, encrypted document uploads, subscription billing and in-app training.

Pagechanger
A bespoke CMS that makes existing websites editable as you browse them — built so an agency could sell it as a recurring monthly product.
AI and data inside a product, not bolted beside it
We run two AI products of our own, StartupTools and SocialTools, which means the trade-offs are not theoretical to us: model cost per user at scale, what to cache, where a human has to stay in the loop, and how a feature degrades when the provider has a bad afternoon.
The work usually falls into three shapes:
- A feature in your product — a copilot, a summariser, a classifier, a natural-language query over data the user already owns. See AI integration.
- An agent that does the work — a multi-step process that reads, decides and acts, with the approval points made explicit. See AI agent development.
- The data underneath it — the unglamorous half. A product with data spread across a transactional database, a warehouse and three SaaS tools cannot answer questions about itself, let alone let a model answer them. That is what data lake development and our Lake On Rails product exist for.
If you are earlier than that, AI Opportunity Planning is a costed roadmap rather than a build.
Rapid results with Velocity Sprints
Pay for output, not hours.
Our Velocity Sprints process accelerates your app development. Each deliverable is scoped, tracked and quality-checked in Output Units — a unit of finished work rather than time spent. You see progress daily, and Escape Hatch Friday™ means you are never locked into a sprint that stopped making sense on Tuesday.
Discovery & scoping
Focused workshops define the essential features of your MVP. You'll leave with clarity on scope, timeline and budget, without delays.
Sprint-based builds
Our UK developers work in short, high-speed sprints to deliver working prototypes quickly. You'll see progress fast, with daily updates.
Launch & validate — fast
Get your MVP live in weeks, not months. Test with real users, gather feedback and pivot rapidly, so your idea starts delivering value sooner.

What Our Clients Say
Scorchsoft helped us take our idea for an app and make it a reality. Everything from the planning meeting to decide what we really needed to the project management and execution was great. It was delivered on time - early in fact - and on budget. Highly recommend.
Rebecca PalserDragonfly IntelligenceScorchsoft is a brilliant company with fantastic knowledge of the mobile app industry. From the project management to the development team, they have been the perfect candidate for our project, and we can't thank them enough!
Lance ChorltonGapped OnlineWe're really pleased with the work Scorchsoft has done in developing our web portal! They have been accurate with timelines and budget, delivering a solid product that allows us to monitor and manage patients remotely while they use our novel medical device at-home. The "plan - design - build" approach has worked well and saved us time in the long-run by catching requirements and issues early.
Daniel GreenSensTrainI'm really pleased with how my app came out, it was exactly what I was looking for. The team at Scorchsoft are great at what they do and made the whole process as simple and easy as possible. Being someone who is not very tech savvy the set up and back end operations were done in a great easy to use manner even for myself which makes using my app stress free. Thanks to all the team!
Ruben CarrollMosaic MasterpiecesThe new Flourish Education website has already removed a lot of manual processes, freeing up both schools, candidates and internal employees time. We are delighted with the look and feel which is clean, professional and more engaging. We are also pleased with the decision to have an HD video background on the homepage, and building immediate trust with our clients by giving them a taste of what it looks like in the Flourish Education offices.
James HancocksMarketing Manager, Flourish Education I can't believe how quickly we started to see results with this project. Scorchsoft provided us with graphic-designed mockups of how the app would look once built, and we were able to sell the product for use by our first customer before the product was finished. Since launching in March, we have secured a major television network as a client who now uses Image Approvals to manage the talent approval process for their productions.

SaaS and technology development questions
What software companies and founders ask us most often.
Yes. On a standard engagement the intellectual property in the code we write for you transfers to you, the repository is yours, and the infrastructure runs in your own cloud accounts. Nothing we build requires Scorchsoft to keep operating it, and we will hand over to your own team or another supplier without drama. We would rather you stay because the work is good than because leaving is painful.
Regularly. That can be owning a discrete part of the product end to end, taking the roadmap items your team cannot get to, or pairing with your engineers on something they have not built before — a first AI feature, a multi-tenancy migration, a data platform. We fit around your repository conventions, review process and release cadence rather than importing our own.
For a genuinely new product, two to eight weeks to something real users can use, through our Velocity Sprints process. The variable is scope rather than speed: the version that ships in two weeks is one workflow done properly, not a thin version of everything. We will tell you honestly which of those two your idea needs.
Yes, and this is the most common request we now get from software companies. The first conversation is usually about narrowing it — 'add AI' is not a specification, whereas 'let a user ask a question of their own data in plain English' is. We will also tell you where a model is the wrong tool and a query or a rule would be faster, cheaper and more predictable.
Yes. Typical work includes separating tenant data properly, a permission model that survives an enterprise customer's org chart, single sign-on, audit logging, and the security questionnaire that arrives with the first large deal. We also run penetration testing so the answers you give are evidenced rather than asserted.
Yes. We are an in-house team working from Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. There is no offshore delivery arm behind the account manager — the people you meet are the people who build it.
